- Do not throw stones on dogs in the rural areas and take extra cushions.
- Do not fish with out permission in River Swat and its tributaries. The season is from March to October, information and licenses are available at fisheries or with the incharge on the spot.
- Don’t drink openly; it is illegal for Muslim to drink alcohol. Do not hold hands with woman, kissing, hugging in the public openly.
- Do not ask the people to accept the other traditions or values.
- Shoes should be removed before entering in to Mosque and Mazars.
- Friday is the special day of worship; the shops are mostly closed on this day.

- There are no lavatories on the road; you should wait for your next destination or hotel.
- Excellent Doctors/Physicians are available in all major towns; they are well trained, and have their degree to prove at.
- Medicine are available in pharmacy shop everywhere, the prescription is not necessary. Stomach upset is common problems with the visitors do not worry the doctors are there; visit them on as the problem happened.
- Money can be exchanged in open market in Mingora, Madyan, Bahrain but it is better to exchange in banks or in Dollar East a Money exchange company in Swat market
- Urdu and English newspapers are available in all main towns.
- Foreign tourists are advised to contact the local police authorities at Kalam before proceeding to the valleys of Ushu, Utor, and Gabral.
- Swat is ideal for camping, trekking, and mountaineering. Permits are necessary to ensure your safe journey. It is advisable to contact the local police when you camp or trek, and the permits can be obtained from the Tourism Division.
